CLIENT

Frontier Texas is an interactive museum and visitors center in downtown Abilene, TX. Exhibits use state-of-the-art technology and allow visitors to relive the Old West. To further engage more history lovers, Jeff Salmon, Executive Director at Frontier Texas, created the Tribute Film Festival. The festival celebrates history through documentary films.

OPPORTUNITY

As it was the first time the festival was being held, we focused our efforts on building awareness and brand identity. The 3 day festival in March consisted of documentary seminars, small viewing sessions, a gala at the historic Paramount Theater and post-gala talks at local coffee shops. Our tasks were to plan and stage the gala, generate awareness of festival events and solicit student film submissions.

OBJECTIVE

Plan, promote and execute an event that portrays the Frontier Texas brand and engages target audiences. Posters, digital ads, awards and programs were among the materials created for this event.

SOLUTION

The theme of the gala was inspired by film history and featured film strips with black and white decor and pops of red. A photo booth was incorporated to keep attendees engaged. The event was promoted on social media, by word-of-mouth through film professors at local colleges, on university websites and on posters hung in local businesses. Press releases and media advisories were sent to local newspapers and stations.

RESULTS

The gala served as a successful, and well-attended, showcase event for the inaugural year of the Tribute Film Festival.
